This June 3, the Children get to learn about Jesus' commitment to rescue them when they stray from the path of life. Thank God we have a Good Shepherd who will have us back as often as we stray. When we come back to Jesus, we always have thorns in our sides and guilt in our hearts. The important thing is that, though we have picked up thorns and briers from the wilderness, and a heart filled with guilt and regret, we are safe in Jesus' arms once we come back. That is the most important thing, and the most important place to be--in Jesus' arms. If you have wandered, just answer His call and come back to Him. In the right time Jesus will carefully clean the thorns out of your sides and the guilt from your heart. Again He will fill your heart with His love so that you won't want to stray. But thank God the Good Shepherd is willing to bruise or break a limb to keep us on our knees until we learn how His lovingkindness is better than life itself! Its funny that all during that painful time preceding restoration, is when God has complete control. It feels like nothing is happening and my sinful heart will never change. But Jesus is quietly carrying me. He will withhold His voice of comfort, or He will speak with the Word of His Power, He will do such mysterious things and then speak all of a sudden to work His purposes into our hearts and our selfishness out of our hearts. As for God, His way is perfect, the Word of the Lord is proven, He is a shield to all who trust in Him. I believe the greatest power in the universe isn't just to find a lost Christian, but to love a selfish sinful Christian into joyful obedience.
